Rove LA - premieres on Fox8, September 19 at 8.30pm

On September 19 at 8.30pm - and exclusive to FOX8 - the Australian premiere of Rove LA finally hits screens after weeks of clever teaser ad campaigns.

Watch this fun clip:

And this one:

Multiple TV Week Gold Logie winner, Rove McManus, is returning to Australian television – and this time he’s gone all Hollywood-style. I must say, it suits him.

Rove LA will see Rove go back to where he seems most comfy – in comedy driven talk show in front of a live audience, chatting to celebrities. Incorporating the hottest guests as well as Rove’s take on the LA way of life, this exclusive one hour series seems the perfect vehicle to welcome Rove McManus back to the telly.

Shot at CBS Television City in Los Angeles, Rove LA will provide viewers with a weekly slice of Hollywood. Produced by Rove's company Roving Enterprises, Rove LA is executive produced by Craig Campbell, Rove's long-time creative partner and the driving force behind the 7PM Project.

Rove has a-US based production team, led by Todd Yasui, one-time Tonight Show booker and former head of Late Night at Fox Network in the US.

Rove said: “The time for lounging by the pool has gone on long enough. I feel recharged and excited about starting a new show in a new home but then again, it’s hard not to be when you’re one floor up from Drew Carey’s Price Is Right. So far it’s been a lot of fun putting the new show together and more than anything I’m looking forward to being back on Aussie screens on FOX8.”

Group Channel Manager, FOX8 Duane Hatherly said: “Rove is an icon of the industry and we are honoured that his comeback to Australian television is on FOX8. There is no doubt his humour and presence has been missed and this new series is a sensational addition to our already impressive Australian production slate. We can’t wait for the premiere on September 19!”

Either can I!

Revenge, on Insight - SBS. How far would you go?

On this week's Insight - to screen Tuesday, 6 September 7.30pm on SBS ONE - the topic is revenge.

It’s powerful, and it plays out in many arenas - the most obvious is in the area of bitter break-ups, and extends to neighbourhood disputes, friendships, and even to politics and sport.

Revenge can make people, well, lose their 'nana and act in ways considered not in character, leading them to act out against former partners, colleagues and companies.

In this episode, Insight asks whether humans are hardwired for revenge, and whether it can ever be justified (some of the examples on tonight's ep will make your head spin).

Some of those who take revenge say the wrongdoer is simply getting what they deserve and that justice is being done. But others say that ‘two wrongs don’t make a right’ – and that revenge won’t make you feel better anyway. Watch the various examples and see what side of the fence you sit on...

Host Jenny Brockie leads the discussion and tonight's interesting guests include:

Warren Mallard, a private investigator, who sees a large number of cases driven by revenge. He says he’s been threatened with death, had his car torched, tyres punctured, and windows smashed as payback for cases he’s worked on. He believes revenge most hurts the person who enacts it.

Paul Gyulavary, who lost his twin brother and only sibling, Peter, in the 9/11 terrorist attack on the twin towers in New York. Paul confessed to a sense of jubilation after hearing of the death of Osama bin Laden, but then he wondered whether his reaction was appropriate. He says neither revenge nor forgiveness are factors for him.

Mike McCullough, an evolutionary psychologist from the University of Miami and author of Beyond Revenge – the Evolution of the Forgiveness Instinct. He says revenge and happiness both stem from the same area of the brain and that, in evolutionary terms, revenge was ‘created’ because of its value in deterring harm.

Pauline Clayton (perhaps my favourite), who racked up $20,000 on her husband’s credit cards after he left her for another woman. She also threw her husband’s beloved golf clubs in the swimming pool and cut the backs out of dozens of his Yves St Laurent shirts (ooh, nasty!).

Niromi de Soyza, who joined the Tamil Tigers at age 17 to avenge the government sanctioned atrocities against Tamils in Sri Lanka. After a year of guerrilla warfare and witnessing the violent deaths of many close friends, Niromi says she came to believe that violence and revenge are not the answer.

Dave Carroll: after United Airlines damaged his beloved guitar, Dave recorded a song “United Breaks Guitars” which went viral on YouTube. The song notched up 10 million hits on the video-sharing site and became a public relations headache for the airline (see the song on the show tonight). But Carroll doesn’t view his actions as revenge.

What would you do in the name of revenge? Better still - what have you done? C'mon, spill. Comment - and feel free to remain anonymous...

Insight is hosted by Jenny Brockie and airs on SBS ONE every Tuesday at 7.30pm.

Jennifer Aniston: Marie Claire Australia, October 2011

The October 2011 edition of Australian Marie Claire is out now and features the delectable Jennifer Aniston.

Apart from a fab interview and photo shoot with the global star - who stars in the very funny Horrible Bosses as a nasty-boss-slash-evil-minx - there are plenty of highlights to be had.

The story entitled 'Secrets of a Sex School Graduate' is about Australian sexologist Nikki Goldstein's experience at the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco (oh yes, it exists).

She says: "I've learned how to put on a condom with my mouth, and I know all there is to know about lubricants."

On an entirely different note, the new season accessories round-up is a visual delight - we're talking pages (and pages!) of accessories of every kind. Inspiring!

And last (but not least - there are plenty more glorious fashion pages in this issue) the feature story on the Foxtel reality TV show Mob Wives is quite the read.

The October issue of Marie Claire is out now.

Breaking news! Sarah Jessica Parker heading to Australia

In news just in, Sarah Jessica Parker will be heading to Australia for the first time in November to promote her upcoming film I Don't Know How She Does It.

The renowned star will be coming to Melbourne and her visit will include a press conference, a media junket and red carpet premiere event for the release of the film, as well as attendance at Crown Oaks Day.

Indeed, she confirmed on TV's Hamish and Andy's Gap Year that she will be in Australia (Sydney, you miss out... drats!) from October 29 to November 2.

National Publicity Manager Inge Burke said, “We are thrilled Sarah Jessica Parker can visit our country and we are excited to show off Melbourne during Spring, such a beautiful time of the year. Her new film I Don't Know How She Does It will resonate with so many women as more and more these days balance their family life with their working life”.

The film also stars Greg Kinnear (Little Miss Sunshine), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) and Pierce Brosnan (Die Another Day).

The film revolves around Kate Reddy (Parker) who devotes her days to her job with a Boston-based financial management firm. In the evenings, she goes home to her loving architect husband Richard (Kinnear) and their two young children.

Juggling her two lives is of course exhausting, and it's the same story for Kate's best friend and fellow working mum Allison (Christina Hendricks), while the polar opposite is Kate's child-phobic, young junior associate Momo (Olivia Munn), who is intent on avoiding Kate's kind of life at all costs.

And then, Kate is given a big new account requiring trips to New York - and Richard wins a new job he's been hoping for.

As both spread themselves thin, to add further stress, Kate's spunky new business associate Jack Abelhammer (Brosnan) proves an unexpected source of temptation for her.

I Don't Know How She Does It releases in cinemas nationally on November 3, 2011. See www.howshedoesitmovie.com for more on the movie.
