Grammys 2014 Highlights: VIDEOS

Didn't watch the Grammys? Or don't have pay-TV? Or simply don't have three hours and 45 minutes to spare?

No matter!

Here are the Grammys 2014 highlights for you:

And this (poor Taylor):

Johanna Johnson. Grammys 2014. Chrissy Teigen and Pink.

Model Chrissy Teigen and singer Pink both wore Australian fashion design label Johanna Johnson to the 2014 Grammys today.

Chrissy wore a gold strapless, deep-v, fully hand beaded gown by Johanna Johnson to attend the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. Chrissy was accompanied on the red carpet by her husband John Legend, who was nominated for Best R&B Album.

Here is the utterly beautiful gown:

Meanwhile, Pink donned a stunning red panelled gown by Johanna Johnson, which fit her athletic body beautifully. Here it is:

It makes sense Pink should wear an Aussie designer - Pink's popularity in Australia in huge, evidenced by the record number of concerts the artist has put on during her last two tours here.

Johanna Johnson has a been a red carpet fave for years now, both in Australia and overseas.

The label is reminiscent of the silver screen age of New York City, with Johanna's Spring/Summer 2014 collection inspired by the combination of the building blocks of Art Deco, with the luxury fabrics and finishes of yesteryear.

Exquisite embellishment and hand-beaded designs are a hallmark of a Johanna Johnson gown, as are panelled silk gowns, detailed French lace and reflective, metallic silhouettes.

According to the label, every gown is approached with artisan techniques and finishes. Every look is treated as its own homage to luxury dressing, and the tradition of dressing on ceremony.

WoodGreen Homeward Bound: 'Gossip Today'

I really love this.

In a culture fixated on 'celebrity', watch what the world would look like if we gave a shit a lot more about people who really need our attention, and far less so about Kardashians, Ke$ha, or Kate Gosselin:

Created for the WoodGreen Homeward Bound program by advertising agency DDB Canada, DDB Executive Creative Director Denise Rossetto told the website Osocio: "Our creative is a parody of popular celebrity media culture, but instead of celebrity-focused stories, it features hard-hitting headlines about struggling single mothers and the real hardships they face each day. Learning about celebrities is fun, but we want people to recognise that there are many others who are in greater need of our attention and support."

They urge people to sign their petition at http://www.woodgreen.org/ and help single mothers move out of poverty. Use the hashtag: #ChangeTheConversation

The site asks: "What if we cared about those living in poverty as much as we care about celebrities?

"Learning about celebrities is fun, but there are people who need our attention much more: struggling single mothers. Meet a few of these women below and see how the WoodGreen Homeward Bound program has changed their lives."

Here are some parody covers used for the advertising campaign:

Tinder translations: how to decipher men's profiles, by Soraya

Soraya is a 20-something single girl from Sydney who "talks too much, laughs too loud and can often be spotted eating." You can read more from Soraya at http://cheebes.blogspot.com.au/ where Soraya, Finbar and Pats talk about food, booze, travel and fashion.

She wrote a piece just for Josie's Juice on how to translate the men you find on Tinder.

For the unfamiliar, Tinder is described as ... "how people meet. It's like real life, but better". Here's their little teaser video:

And so, Soraya thought she'd give Tinder a go. Here's what she found there... and what she made of it.

Translating men on Tinder, by Soraya.

Being a recently single 20-something means that dating life is integrated with technology, especially now with the rise of dating apps like Tinder.

If you're over clubbing, are working long hours to get ahead career-wise and all of your friends/friends of friends are in relationships, how else are you supposed to meet somebody?

Photo of the gorgeous Soraya
Cue Tinder - the game of "Hot or Not" where a simple left swipe means they are vetoed and never seen again and a right swipe means there is the potential for you to "match", make contact, and... Well I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

Funnily enough, it's my friends in relationships who enjoy Tinder the most. It's the power of rejection without consequences. One of my BFFs even encouraged Tinder as a casual sex tool and recommended I "lower my standards, you're not looking for Mr Right, just Mr Root".

When you are critiquing the opposite sex based on the first photo you see, every ounce of judgey superficiality comes to the surface. The fact remains though, Tinder is a home to some real creatures. So, if a picture tells a thousand words, here are my top Tinder translations of men who receive an instant left swipe, all based on their first profile photo.

1. The guy with the baby
This could mean that either the baby is his, OR, he is trying to show off his sensitive/nurturing side by displaying a baby in his profile pic. Either way, straight to the left... No pre-mades please.

2. The guy with another woman
Okay, it's good to know you aren't a total alien who can't speak to women, however in your first pic? No dice. And especially if you are holding hands walking across the beach with her. Please get off Tinder.

3. The guy with the puppy
Lure women in with a false sense of security. What he thinks it says: "Puppies are cute, I'm cute, you should like me." What it really says "Please swipe right. Or the puppy gets it."

4. The shirtless guy on the roids
We all love a selfie... But shirtless, with your post workout veiny bulge? Puhlease. Plus the size of your neck and shoulders is an indicator of some serious upcoming roid rage.

5. The creepy older guy
Your profile says you're 25. Your picture adds at least ten years to that. Left. Left. Left.

6. The guy in the suit.
We get it. You wore a suit. Once. And yet every single one of your Tinder pics pay homage to you and your one night suited up. Thanks and no.

7. The guy and his mates
The first pic on his profile is a group shot. Him plus seven of his nearest and dearest mates (rendering you the potential ninth wheel in that relationship). You click into his profile and... More pics of his mates. You don't need a crystal ball to know what the majority of your arguments will be about in THAT relationship.

8. The naked guy
You're innocently left swiping away when you are confronted with a picture of naked white bum cheeks and unreasonably tanned legs and back. Often on top of a mountain or under a waterfall. Look past his adorable tight buns and into your future. Nudist beaches.

9. The party boy
He's the guy who is often with one mate, holding a bottle of vodka and pulling an awful face. He's trying to show you he's a lot of fun and knows how to party. What he's really saying is he will be calling you at 4am begging for you to pay for his cab fare home after he spent all of his money on booze and recreational drugs.

10. The DJ
And finally, the guy standing behind decks, headphones against his neck who has probably never played a gig in his life. If you swipe right he will spend ages telling you about where he's played. The truth is, he's not admitting that his only headlining set has been from his bedroom, broadcast live to his siblings, parents and family dog.

Brill post by Soraya!

Tell me, have you been on Tinder? What did you make of it? Did you meet any of these people above?

Adam Boland resigns from 'Wake Up'

In TV news just in, Adam Boland has resigned from 'Wake Up', Channel 10's breakfast program, as Executive Producer of the show.

The news site news.com.au has reported that Channel Ten Chief Executive Officer Hamish McLennan said: "We are sorry to lose Adam. But we fully understand and support his decision to take a break from the television industry and focus on restoring his health.

"We are very grateful to Adam for the passion, enthusiasm and drive he brought to his role at Ten over the past 10 months. He is leaving a great legacy. Studio 10 has been a success since day one and is being increasingly embraced by viewers and advertisers. Wake Up has strong potential and will develop further this year."

Adam - who suffers from bipolar disorder - was instrumenta in the launch of both 'Wake Up' and 'Studio 10', and has taken two breaks as executive producer of Ten's morning shows in recent months after suffering a breakdown. He returned in early December and has written his struggles with this condition and depression (his "black dog"). The man is to be commended for being so honest about it all.

Adam posted the following statement on his Facebook page:

"So, I made a big life decision this month which I can finally talk about. I'm leaving Ten and indeed, television. Since my breakdown, I have struggled to get my mind back in the game. And that's unfair to my many friends who produce morning TV at Ten. I'm proud of the shows we launched - but they will only reach their full potential with strong leadership.

"I'm thankful that Ten agreed to release me from my contract. The truth is, I have lost my passion for television. Sadly, that's something I only realised when I started doing day-to-day shows again.

"Across the past 17 years, I have achieved far more than I ever expected. I've met people I adore, from Al Gore to Benjamin Law. I've dined with Prime Ministers and argued with newspaper editors. I even got to produce a prime-time concert at the Opera House! But I'm most proud of the times we shed light on issues I care about - climate change, equality and most recently, mental health.

"There's nothing more I want to do in television. So, Kenny and I will spend the next four months (at least) in Vanuatu. We have no plan and frankly, that's exactly what we want. I need some stillness in my life.

"And that means I'm not sure what I will do next, but whatever it is, it will need to provoke my passion. Suspect it will have something to do with one of my pet causes above.

"Anyway, thanks to everyone who I had the pleasure of working with in television. I hope that many will forever remain friends. And whenever you need a break, drop in to our little hideaway in Vanuatu."
For more on who has replaced Adam, click here.
I for one think Adam is a fantastic human being. I do not know him personally, but I think the show is entertaining and informative, the mix of hosts on both shows just right, the guests on the shows are interesting, and the stories go beyond the usual breakfast and morning TV fare, and the spotlight he has placed on mental health (including a series of stories the show has done on the issues) speaks highly of the man's integrity and focus. I wish him all the best.

Margot Robbie: Makeup Look Step-by-Step

Margot Robbie.

Give it a few days and you will be obsessed as I am. Especially given the movie of the moment in which she stars - 'The Wolf Of Wall Street' - opens today in Australia.

Since attending the red carpet Sydney premiere of 'The Wolf Of Wall Street' last week I have been curious to know all I can about this woman. She is utterly magnetic on screen. I mean, this Queensland ex-'Neighbours' chick positively perfected a Brooklyn accent. And from the moment she graces the screen in the movie as Jordan Belfort's (Leonardo DiCaprio's) love interest/second wife, you're kinda hooked.

I blogged about Margot's funny and revealing chat with Jimmy Kimmel last week, and following her white-hot turn on the red carpet, it's all about her Golden Globes look, below (how flawless does she look in that white, embellished Gucci gown?)

The woman chosen by Martin Scorcese to play the most-talked about, ballsiest love interest so far this year (I know, it's only January) is about to build on her profile. In a big way.

She's already confirmed to be starring as the lead in new sci-fi flick 'Z for Zachariah', and alongside Chris Pine and Chiwetel Ejiofor ('12 Years a Slave').

Margot's also rumoured to be starring alongside 'True Blood' star Alexander Skarsgard in 'Tarzan'.

She has also just finished filming 'Focus', opposite Will Smith, and the war-time romance 'Suite Francaise', which stars Michelle Williams and Kristin Scott Thomas.

So, yes... you'll be seeing loads more of her soon.

Not that you didn't see, er, a lot of her in her flick with Leo. She's famously said she had to lie about the nudity in the movie to her family. See the clip here.

And so, Margot Robbie's look.

I got the low-down on how to acheive Margot's look right here.

Here is Margot getting prepped:

And behold, her final look, above.

And here, how her makeup look was acheived, with tips from her Golden Globes makeup artist Jennifer Streicher.

Jennifer's technique, in her own words:

1. First, we did an all over application of St. Tropez Classic Bronzing Mousse the day before. This provided a gorgeous and natural sun-kissed base.

2. On the day of the awards and once Margot was dressed I mixed St. Tropez Instant Tan Wash
Off Lotion with the Skin Illuminator in Gold and applied liberally.

3. After a few minutes I went back over a few key spots with just the skin Illuminator (tops of
shoulders, chest and collarbone).

Jennifer's tip:

“This was a very tricky process of application seeing as Margot was wearing a white dress at
the time – so I lined the dress with tissue while I applied the products!”

THE PRODUCTS:

”This was all about the "body" so I felt that St. Tropez products were a must and played such an
important part of this look," says Jennifer. "The St. Tropez Classic Bronzing Mouse is an absolute essential and provides a great base for the rest of the products”

"To enhance your base tan even more before an outing, apply a coat of the St. Tropez Instant
Tan Wash Off Lotion with an applicator mitt. You can get even more golden with the St. Tropez
Skin Illuminator in Gold by applying to cheekbones, shoulders, and shins for a gorgeous glow."
