Magdalena Frackowiak: Muse December 2010

This week, my new model obsession is: Magdalena Frackowiak.

The Polish-born fashion model is currently ranked number 13 on the models.com Top 50 list, and has featured prominently in the recent Ralph Lauren, Alessandro Dell'Acqua, and Oscar de la Renta print campaigns.

Magdalena has been on the cover of Italian, German, Japanese, and Russian Vogue and Numéro, with Vogue Paris declaring her one of the top 30 models of the 2000s. She even walked the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this year, and featured in the 2011 Pirelli Calendar photographed by Karl Lagerfeld. Swoon.

Here she is as covergirl - with a racy photoshoot to boot - for the December 2010 issue of US Muse magazine.

Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue: DVD release

Disney movies have always been magical... enjoy them with kids and it adds a whole new dimension.

In time for Christmas giving to l'il tots is Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue.

I watched this stunning all-new full-length film, featuring breathtaking CG animation with my just-turned-three twinnies and they were completely enthralled.

Before she was ever introduced to Wendy and the Lost Boys, the lovable Tinker Bell met Lizzy, a girl with a strong belief in fairies. During a summertime visit to the beautiful English countryside, an enchanting encounter unfolds when Tinker Bell is discovered by Lizzy. As their different worlds unite, Tink develops a special bond with a curious girl who is in need of a friend.

As her fellow fairies launch a daring rescue, Tinker Bell takes a huge risk, putting her own safety and the future of all fairies in jeopardy. This action-packed adventure takes the fairies of Pixie Hollow on a daring flight to London to save Tinker Bell and all of fairy kind.

Tink, Silvermist, Fawn, Rosetta and Iridessa tell a story of the true power of faith and friendship.

Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue is available now on Disney DVD and Blu-ray - with bonus features including deleted scenes, games, activities and a music video.

DVD RRP is $39.95, and Blu-ray value pack is $49.95.

Elyse Taylor for Alex Perry... for Diva - again!

Elyse Taylor: international model, Victoria's Secret angel, Vogue covergirl, and Aussie supermodel currently on the up and up - has finally been unveiled as the face of the latest Alex Perry for Diva range.

The third range, in-store across Australia in January 2011 (who can wait!) will no doubt have fans of the Alex Perry for Diva collections clamouring again... it's still the best, affordable collab jewellery collection I've ever seen... how on earth does Mr Perry come up with such brilliant designs - and all at not-so-exy prices.

The range features soft lavenders (my new fave shade) and creams, mixed in with gold charms and flowers to create a range that is feminine and ladylike. Delicate feathers complement beaded neckpieces and drop earrings. Cuffs feature lavender tulle intertwined with delicate gold detailing.

Right here we also give you a sneak peek of the Diva military range, as we all as the I-want-it-all glam grunge range (how I adore that tuxedo jacket and ripped jegging get-up).

The ranges will arrive in Diva stores across Australia on January 24, 2011. Run, don't walk.

Nicole Richie's wedding dress: Who magazine, January 3 2011

It will be the much-discussed topic for brides-to-be... and those who are not even contemplating getting married: Nicole Richie's wedding dress.

Never mind that Nicole Richie just married rocker Joel Madden (WHO magazine has all the piccies inside their opulent LA wedding, held at her father Lionel Richie’s Beverly Hills mansion). The story is squarely centred on Nicole Richie's dress.

An unofficial poll (Facebook status updates and blogs) has garnered a slew of varied reactions; from "ugh, ugly!". To "oh my, the most divine dress I have ever seen!"

Nicole's Grace Kelly–inspired gown is rather breathtaking - whichever way you look at it. For starters, how on earth did someone who is five-foot-nothing pull off such a meringue? Granted, it's a Marchesa-designed sugar-puff confection, but I am betting this already much-admired/much-maligned dress (comparisons to Bjork's swan number from many years ago have already surfaced) will be the most copied for the next year.

Personally, I have ALWAYS loved Grace Kelly's wedding dress. That tight-fitting lace, divine bodice, and entrancing back-button detail have had me dreaming I'd wear the same on my day. Then, hubby declared he hated sleeves on wedding dresses and loved bridal hair down, so that's what I wore: strapless, with flowy locks. No, no... don't worry; it was still totally my choice. Full-sleeved dressed were simply not 'in' seven years ago - strapless was (and still is) where it's at.

So, I applaud Nicole for her brazen choice. I bet she's been dreaming of that Grace Kelly-inspired design for years. The only thing I don't like is the neckline; it looks a little too 1980s op-shop find to me.

In WHO - onsale today - you can also see the back button-detail, and the dress sans the metres (and metres) of tulle.

Also in WHO, the best and worst of 2010. I am a sucker for compile pictorial stories, and their annual end-of-year tribute issue is 140 pages crammed with the best and worst moments of the year that was. We remember the newsmakers, the tragedies, the scandals and the shock splits. They also celebrate the weddings, the meltdowns, babies, fads and fashions. Plus, the stars of the year, the newsmakers, the memorable meltdowns, the weddings, the splits, babies, and tributes. Should keep me going for a fortnight. Onsale now.

Vital message for summer: from The Children's Hospital at Westmead

Hearing about a drowning is utterly heartbreaking. As a mother with a backyard pool I will confess to being stricken with fear at the very thought of it. I am not a strong swimmer and it has been of utmost importance to me to ensure my three year old twins are water-aware and feel confident in the pool. This does not mean it will ever eliminate the need for supervision. Oh no, not at all. In fact, I become a primal mother when we're in the pool, and watch their every move intently. But as these pictures show - courtesy of The Children's Hospital at Westmead - curious, young minds seek adventure... and in this case, these actions can have potentially disastrous consequences.

And the latest case of near-drownings due to lack of supervision have emergency doctors at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead warning parents about the dangers of crowded pools - there have been five near-drowning incidents in the past week.

While hospitals, major pool organisations and children’s safety groups have been busy building pool safety awareness in the lead-up to summer, there is still major concern over the safety of children in and around water after the five separate incidents.

Each year, as summer approaches, children spend more time venturing into the water to cool down, in both private and public pools. However, as Professor Danny Cass of the Trauma Unit at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead says, supervision by parents must play a lead role in preventing drownings.

“In this latest group of near-drownings, four were in public access pools while the other was in a private pool. Each of these cases involved a lapse of supervision. This is a real issue, particularly when the child is at a busy public pool where there are large crowds of people. Supervision can become confused. Supervision around water means within “arm’s length” and with eye contact,” said Cass.

“Not only is supervision the issue, but also the fact that the child can easily be overlooked when in the pool surrounded by a large number of swimmers”.

Emergency and Trauma specialists at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead are urging parents/carers to be extra vigilant this season and to ensure that:

1. They intimately supervise their children around swimming pools and any other body of water.

2. They closely observe their child when swimming in public pools.

3. They maintain a secure pool fence for their private swimming pools.

Let's all strive to make this an accident and fatality-free summer.

This is Genevieve: swimwear collection

It's been a long while since I have wanted to covet a swimsuit.

And that's because the birth of my twins (who turn three today! Happy birthday, my angels!) has rendered my tummy, well... not as it used to be.

So, I am in love with one particular piece from the This Is Genevieve swimwear collection.

Can you guess which one? Why, it's the clever little number which looks like a bikini, but sneakily doubles as a one-piece, craftily covering the tummy area. Nice. Actually, beyond nice... sexy-slash-a-little-modest all rolled into one.
Pre-bubbas, I woulda gone straight for the ruffled peach set, or the so-on-trend purple duo.

The This Is Genevieve range features icy pastels and distinct patterns, reminiscent of the This Is Genevieve’s clothing range style.

Featuring a magical selection of tropical key prints including animal scales, traditional ikat, paint splatter and brush strokes, the range purports to take you to a dreamy island spot far, far away... or, y'know, for a little splash in your backyard pool.

The colour palette for the collection features navy, cream, pastels and amethyst orchid all woven together with other pieces like classic vintage denim and comfy sandals – the sound of summer.

Want, want, want.

Michigan Avenue: Jessica Alba, December 2010

Jessica Alba wears delectable Michael Kors shoes (and Jen Kao knit dress) for the cover of American 'Michigan Avenue' magazine December 2010 issue which frankly, make me wanna lick my computer screen.

Here are all the pics from inside her fashion spread for the mag.

My other new love affair is with this magazine: where have you been all my life?
