'Australian Ninja Warrior': Paul VIDEO

Have you been watching 'Australian Ninja Warrior'?

I have, in between writing and blogging, and I love watching people who have a sensational backstory.

Always 'rooting' for the little guy, or the girl who trains like mad after a huge weight loss, or the guy who has recovered after a car accident... how can you not want them to do well?

And so, Paul.

Hearing impaired, he was a fave from the start, and it seems the internet agrees... the social media comments of support were huge.

But then... this:

The social media comments were not kind.

Read below, and tell us what you think...

Personally, I shed a tear for Paul. I was a little confused about what was happening, and poor darling was also.

Leilani Bourke So you considered how to overcome him not being able to hear the buzzer at the beginning, but clearly didn't think of the support and adjustments he would need beyond there. Handled very poorly. The shock look on his face and the audience said it all.

Jim Starr Shame on you Channel 9. You don't show all of the people who make it through, but you highlight the confusion of a deaf athlete who was unaware that he was disqualified.

This segment could have been edited to empower Paul, but you chose humiliation instead.

Flynn Peacock Completely disgraceful, you have nailed the issue perfectly! Shame on Channel 9 indeed, so disappointed and disheartened.

Lucy Clifford Devastating, and just goes to prove how our society is so skewed towards the hearing and able bodied... I can't help but wonder whether perhaps the rules might've been lost in translation too? I think he should be given an invitation to the next series, to show just what he's capable of!!

Simon Anderson Shocking job accommodating his disability... You could've easily built visual start and fail signs, or at least hired an official who could sign...
