Oscars Red Carpet 2012 - part one

Here are some of the gowns from the Oscars 2012 red carpet.

Not much is same-same this year - every starlet brings it home with her own original look (the boys? Well, a tux is a tux is a tux, right?).

Standouts from this batch: Kristen Wiig (her gown is a 'nude' ethereal dream); George Clooney's gal Stacy Kiebler in a metallic gold-ish swathed gown; and Emma Stone in varying shades of red (Michelle is wearing 'coral', she said; Emma in deep, verging-on-burgundy red).

Sally Obermeder - cancer battle and Journo Jam

This is the saddest, yet most inspiring story you will hear about cancer.

Many are aware that Channel 7 entertainment reporter Sally Obermeder is battling cancer.

Read more here:

Last night, a slew of Sally's journo mates and friends turned out for the event called Journo Jam, held at the Upstairs Beresford, in aid of raising funds for Sally's chemotherapy.

The event was sold out, and Sal's pals - with bands from Channel 7 and Channel 10 'competing' against each other - rallied around her with lots of love, laughs, and donations.

In this clip from The Morning Show this morning, you can see the fun that was had at the event, as well as a very emotional Sal talking about her battle (I defy you not to cry... I bawled):

How brilliant and moving was the clip at the end, with a surprise message of support from US E! News reporter Giuliana Rancic?

Undergoing her own battle recently (see: http://josiesjuice.blogspot.com.au/2011/10/giuliana-rancic-speaks-about-her-breast.html) Giuliana's words are also very moving.

It's ironic both are battling cancer at the around the same time. On Sally's Twitter page, you'll see she has been a huge fan of Giuliana long before they battled the same disease:

"ONLY INTERESTED IN INTELLECTUAL TV: KARDASHIANS, REAL HOUSEWIVES, GUILIANA & BILL, FASHION POLICE."

Ah, a woman after my own heart!

As Sally says in the Morning Show clip:

"It's like, I'm still the same person, just without hair."

Just even more beautiful on the inside and outside.

If you want to donate to Sally's fundraising efforts for chemo (she has undergone four months of it, immediately after her daughter was born, and now has started round two of an additional four months), just click here: http://www.everydayhero.com.au/sallyo

Celebrity Apprentice USA 2012

Oh my Lordy... the Celebrity Apprentice US line up for 2012 is a beauty.

Just starting to screen on Foxtel - on Fox8 - with repeats throughout the week, this is the kinda TV I completely love. Fights, madness, egos... and this year's cast of crazies include:

Terese Giudice, Victoria Gotti (there's your show right there), Lisa Lapanelli (Google her and watch her comedy roasts on YouTube), Clay Aiken, Arsenio Hall, George Takei... ohhh, the joys.

Here is the promo for the new series:

And here is the one and only Teresa:

Miranda Kerr - The Sydney Magazine, March 2012

I really love the opening paragraph of the cover story on Miranda Kerr - and the modelling industry - in the March edition of The Sydney Magazine, out today (get your copy super quick! I nabbed the last one at my local news place, and they always sell fast).

The story, by Stephanie Wood, starts:

"So, when did it happen? When did the genetic anomaly in the microscopic Dion Lee white dress in front of me morph from woman to brand?"

The intro par goes on to question: was it when she joined the Victoria's Secret lingerie giant in 2006? Or in 2008 when she joined David Jones? Or when she met one Orlando and became 'Kerr-bloom'?

I often ask the same question when I see Miranda.

Because the very first time I saw her - at a Body Shop launch for their new makeup line at a Sydney Harbour-side venue in the year 2000 - I recall this beautiful young girl, with a pretty face but a rather boy-like body, propped on a stool, not saying a word as her makeup was applied.

When she became 'Miranda Kerr' I recall thinking... wow, how did that happen?

The story goes on to interview Miranda on her life and successes, and include profile pieces on other up and comers, including definitely already there model Alexandra Agoston-O'Connor.

The entire issue is a meaty fashion feast.

From interviews with fash-savvy fashion website innovators, and a very entertaining compile piece on the 'tribes' that exist in fashion (featured here: Boys 'N The Hood; Double Bay Ladies; and Surry Hills Hipsters) - it's an issue not to be missed.

Onsale today.

Julia Gillard issues statement on Kevin Rudd's resignation

As is all over the news for the past two hours, today Kevin Rudd resigned as Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Julia Gillard issued this statement at 8.09pm this evening:

"Mr Rudd was a strong and effective advocate for Australia’s interests overseas.

During his period of service as Foreign Minister there were many achievements. He strongly pursued Australia’s interests in the world.

I am disappointed that the concerns Mr Rudd has publicly expressed this evening were never personally raised with me, nor did he contact me to discuss his resignation prior to his decision.

I plan to hold a press conference tomorrow to make a further statement."

Nigella Talks Dirty: VIDEO

Nigella Lawson.

Say her name and think voluptuous, healthy, ripe... and that's just the produce she uses in her dishes.

Food is sexy. Think about it. Feeding someone can be the most romantic, nurturing thing you can do with your clothes on.

And Nigella has always been about the tight sweaters, the lingering looks to camera, and a plethora of double entendre to feast on and gaffaw at.

The makers of this viral vid thought so, too.

It made me LOL big time... and want to head to the kitchen to whip up a dessert:
