Brooke Blurton: first ever Indigenous, bisexual 'Bachelorette'

Brooke Blurton has just been announced as the first ever mixed gender 'bachelorette' on TV show: 'The Bachelorette' Australia.

The West Australian is a Carnarvon-born Yamatji-Noongar woman, and has been cast as the first openly bisexual star on the popular reality TV show.

So yes, that means Blurton will have both men and women competing for her love and affection,  signalling the first time The Bachelor or men has had a mixed gender cast.

'The Bachelorette' show host Osher Günsberg said in a statement that the upcoming season highlights the diversity and common interests of Australia.

"We are a nation of people from so many different backgrounds, so many different cultures and so many different experiences, yet we all have one thing in common – we all want to be loved in a way that is meaningful to us," he said.

Brooke herself said: “Times are more progressive and sexuality and gender expression are just so fluid these days,” she told News Corp Australia.

Brooke burst onto the scene in Nick Cummins’ season (yep, The Honey Badger... he who did not pick ANYONE at the end of his show tenure, much to the dismay of, well, most of Australia) of 'The Bachelor' Australia, then left the mansion on her own terms towards the end of the show.

Brooke had indeed let Nick know she had previously been in two relationships with women.

Brooke also appeared on 'Bachelor in Paradise'.

Equally exciting for the show is that Brooke is of Aboriginal background - finally! More beautiful Indigenous women on our screens. Much more of this please TV programmers!

Says Brooke, a youth worker: "I've done it twice before and now, having the opportunity to choose my person and who I want in my life, is a truly unique and special experience," she said.

"I'm so excited and hope that I finally find that person I've been waiting for."

Bring it on!

No screen date set yet, as the show will go into production shortly.

Barry Du Bois: Cancer Returns VIDEO

What an emotional ending to last night’s episode of 'The Living Room', as host Barry Du Bois revealed his cancer had returned for a second time.

The 57-year-old designer and builder was diagnosed with plasmacytoma myeloma in 2011 and made the heartbreaking announcement at the end of Friday night's episode of the show, that it had returned once again and more aggressively than his previous diagnosis.
“It seems that my cancer has come back, reasonably aggressively now I have what is regarded as multiple myeloma. We’ve got a cancer in my body that has created several tumours right through my body,” Barry said.
“Now I see an upside to that, this is just another fight for me that I am quite comfortable I am going to win.”
Here is some of that clip:

And here is his post:

His 'The Living Room' cohort Chris Brown has of course come to his support:

'The Bachelor': Final Two, 2016

Well, that's it folks!

'The Bachelor' Richie has chosen his final two... did you pick it?

Olena = out.

Alex and Nikki = in.

Here is what went down:

Missed the ep?

Watch it in FULL here.

Tonight, Richie told Olena he thinks she's not giving him enough to have faith in the relationship.

Funny that!

She's kinda one of three women dating him... on a reality TV show, so... duh!

Richie said:

"I came on this wild ride to find love, and I now know without a doubt I'm gonna find it."

And:

"Saying goodbye to Olena wasn't that difficult, I want to be with a woman who's gonna love me for me, and someone that's gonna see challenges ahead and want to work and overcome them together.

Ouchies!

Your Closet: Dress Hire - Briella Brown Interview

Okay, so I like a red carpet event and go to many of them - often covering them for Josie's Juice, and/or being a guest.

I have an overflowing closet and don't feel the need to go buy a new dress each time there is a black tie event or red carpet or dinner. It's just not my style.

But this was different; it was the Tour De Cure ball, I had a beautiful gown ready to wear which was mine (thing is, I've worn it before... cardinal sin number one for black tie events), but as my fashion stylist Adriana Fernandes was coming with me to the ball, I knew I needed something fresh and new and a gown I've not yet worn. Or risk being smacked by Styled By Adri... yikes!

I know about gown rental companies, of course, but I am a 'go into the store and try on the dress' kinda gal. But I knew this was the way to go with an event on days away.

Ironically, I'd just watched 'Shark Tank' on Channel Ten, and was glued to the story of one young lady Briella Brown - only 20, already having established a company of this description, and looking for additional investment in her business.

That company: Your Closet. Here is Briella in a gorgeous Zimmermann dress - you can hire it! I did!

Briella on set on 'Shark Tank'

First, the name is clever. Why did nobody nab that one before?

Second, this was under the spotlight of some huge heavy hitters: the esteemed panel of business people on 'Shark Tank'.

Briella has Naomi Simson from Red Balloon and Janine Allis from Boost Juice as her mentors/investors, having entered the 'shark tank' seeking an $80,000 investment for 20% equity stake. She ended up locking in that $80,000 investment split between Janine and Naomi, for a combined 30% stake in the business.

Watch the preview video HERE below:

By giving women access to remarkable luxury experiences, we’re changing the meaning of ownership- and revolutionizing retail in the process.
We deliver Australia wide.
Love from the Your Closet team x
Josie's Juice interviewed Briella on her burgeoning business:

At what age did you start, and why?
I started the business at the age of 18. I had just finished my final year at high school and was fortunate enough to be invited to 3 formals, I noticed that myself and all of my friends were spending a large sum of money on dresses which would only get worn once. The idea of renting began from here and how it could be executed on a larger scale.

What kind of outlay (quantity of dresses) for you need to do for each season, and do you 'top up' before the season is over?

We have wholesale agreements with all of the designers we stock which allows us to receive all of our dresses at the start of the season. At the moment we are introducing around 100 dresses at the start of each season, and this will continue to increase as we add more designers to our line up.

What has been the reaction from the public and friends and media since being on (TV show) 'Shark Tank'?

The reaction has been so positive and overwhelming; we have received some exciting media coverage and friends have been really excited and supportive.

How has the two mentors’ investments made an impact on your business?
They have been extremely helpful with business advice on how to grow the business quickly and how we can differentiate Your Closet. We are really excited that we will be introducing millinery (fascinators) and clutches this week to our offering with beautiful pieces from Natalie Bikicki and Danica Erard.

Here is the site, for all your FAQs and to browse and hire RIGHT NOW.

And you can follow Your Closet here on Facebook.

For all emails and enquiries: info@your-closet.com.au

Briella was inspired to launch her business when she was in her last year of school, in Year 12; she was invited to several school graduation 'formals' in a short space of time, knew she'd need lots of gowns, saw the gap in the market, and Your Closet was born.

To watch the whole ep (it'll expire in a few weeks), go HERE.

Back to my gown for the ball!

I requested two gowns; one for me, and one for my guest for the ball. It made the 2.30pm daily cut off time, and voila, there was my parcel on my doorstep, at 7.30am, delivered by Australia Post, with the tracking of it sent to my email address. Brilliant.

Then dresses came beautifully boxed, with a note, and an Australia Post return satchel. Done with the dress? Pop it in the Express Post bag, then pop it in the Oz Post box, and it'll get there the next day. The cost of rental covers the use of the dress, and cleaning for the next wearer. The gown is as new when you get it. Smells fresh and clean and lovely, and in perfect condition.

A point on this whole experience, and on my dress in particular... I am not an online shopper, and like the tactile experience, and consider my body type perhaps a little tricky to fit. But guess what... we ALL do! Give the Your Closet experience a go, and you might be surprised at how you find your dream gown... on your very doorstep.

Here are some gorgeous gowns on offer (click here for this one): Painted Floral Mesh Ball Gown; rental $169 (RRP $700)

And this one, with link here: Floral Lace Rouleau Ball Dress: rental $150 (RRP: $599)

More Instagram love for the brand - this is the box it came in:

'The Bachelorette' Men: 2015, Australia PHOTOS

So, what did you think of the new (first ever!) batch of 'The Bachelorette' men for 2015, all "there for the right reasons" for Sam Wood, Australia's first 'Bachelorette'?

Here they are:

And here is the gorgeous Sam, and her reaction when she met Sasha:

Sam Frost in Maxim: PHOTOS

And the Sam Frost interview.

Here is Michael's profile, below:

Michael

Age: 34
Occupation: Professional Football Player
State: QLD

After playing for top football clubs across Europe, this sporty Bachelor returned to Australia to play in the national A-League. Motivated Michael spends the off-season focusing on his property and technology business interests. With his parents recently celebrating their 42nd wedding anniversary, Michael is hoping to follow in their footsteps and score the ultimate goal: finding long-lasting love.
What made you want to be part of The Bachelorette Australia?
I thought it would be a great experience to find love.

How would you describe your perfect woman?
Someone with really good family values, likes the simple things in life, isn’t arrogant and is like talking to your best friend.
How are you going to stand out from the other Bachelors?
I’ll just be myself. Last I checked, there is only one of me on the planet.
What are your thoughts on blind dates?
I take them like a grain of salt. If someone sets one up, I’ll happily go on it, but I don’t go in expecting to meet the love of my life, hence I’m still single.

Are you a romantic?
Yes. The most romantic thing I’ve ever done is surprised my girlfriend at the time with a little puppy and a little red ribbon at work, then laid rose petals at home and cooked her a dinner when she was doing it pretty tough.

Describe your dream date.
Apart from taking a private jet to Paris for a weekend, I would say an evening boat ferry ride down the Brisbane River with some drinks and then stopping at one of my favourite restaurants. Some great food and wine then maybe some dessert and some post-dinner drinks with good music.

Give it time… they will be seen everywhere!

Here is a close up photo of all the Victorian women, as they appeared in today's Herald Sun.

And… Sam, 34, has a TV sex ban, and said he won’t be getting down on bended knee either. NOPE.
Read his whole first interview since being named as The Bachelor here.
He said in the interview he’s never even seen the show (what!)
