Here are all the photos from the Vogue shoot:
From London to Paris to Los Angeles, Hamish Bowles joins Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in their quest for world domination—and the perfect wedding dress.
The fast-cooling Los Angeles afternoon air is filled with the scent of eucalyptus and mimosa, the gurgle of water as it tumbles down a fountain wall into a picture-perfect azure pool, the exultant strains of Pharrell Williams’s “Happy,” and a chorus of “Old MacDonald Had a Farm,” performed in unhappy a cappella by Annie Leibovitz and Kris Jenner.
The frantic warblings of this unlikely duo are intended to entertain the geographically named North West, perched between her father, Kanye West, creative polyglot, and his fiancée, North’s mother, Kim Kardashian, cultural phenomenon—or Kimye, as the media has dubbed the telegenic pair while it relentlessly tracks their every move. North (“Kanye’s side of the family calls her Nori,” says Kim) is poised on her mother’s knee, a knee that is currently enveloped in a fall of Lanvin satin the color and consistency of double cream, fashioned by Alber Elbaz into a wedding dress of fifties haute couture magnificence. The dress is a fitting complement to Kim’s voluptuous movie-star beauty, with her flashing Ava Gardner looks and Sophia Loren figure that have helped to establish a new contemporary body paradigm after an era of waifs.

'In Vogue: The Editor's Eye': HBO documentary Australian screening
Watching 'In Vogue: The Editor's View' - produced by HBO Documentary Films to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the iconic US edition of the magazine in 2012 - was mesmerising.
It screened for the first time on Australian TV last night [on Showcase, on Foxtel. It will re-screen soon. Watch it in HD... glorious] and I sat and watched the whole thing like *this [*mouth agape] drinking it in.
Vogue celebrates 120 years of impeccable fashion coverage, and this one-hour documentary, directed by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, this time does not shine a light on the legendary Anna Wintour (she is the focus of 2009's 'The September Issue'), but on the fashion editors behind the publication: eight staffers from past and present who oversee the magazine's elaborate photo shoots, and who "have always been our secret weapon," says Wintour.
Says Anna Wintour in the doco: "Fashion is so universal now. It has been embraced by everybody. But to me, that's what so interesting about fashion... is that fashion is a refection of our times. Fashion can tell you everything that's going on in our world, with a strong fashion image."
So elegantly, eloquently said. Watch the trailer here:
Behold, some of the US Vogue magazine covers of recent times, starting with one of the most breathtaking covers I have seen, featuring Blake Lively. So beautiful, engaging, classic:
Do you have a memory of your fave Vogue edition/cover/era?
I do.
As a young teen [from about age 13] I'd borrow the latest edition of Australian Vogue from my local library and would be transported to another place. And okay, yes... occasionally I'd rip a page out and stick it on my bedroom wall. Until I started work at age 15 and could buy my own copies. And stuck photos of these incredible photo essays all over my walls. I was ob-sessed.
What are your memories of Vogue, and which is your favourite/s international edition/s?

Kim Kardashian: L'Uomo Vogue
This just in: Kim Kardashian features on the cover of the July/August issue of Vogue Italia. It's her first ever Vogue cover. And she appears on the cover of... Vogue Men.
Here are some excerpts of her possibly-lost-in-translation interview with the magazine:
On her accomplishments despite being born into money:
“Yes I was born rich; it was a classic Californian lineage: lavishness and ostentation, luxury mansions with pools, private clubs, exclusive friendships, and luxury cars. Despite the affluence, at only 31 I’ve been able to build my own empire in the world of entertainment and, although looks and friendships are important, I want the new generation to understand that if you don’t believe in yourself and in your own ideas, you go nowhere. This is what happened with my new fragrance: I could never have imagined achieving that."On her key to success:
“All my success depends on my education and the support I receive all the time from my family. I’m very lucky to have someone around me who is always ready to help, so it doesn’t matter what problems I have to face in life, I know that I always have someone to turn to in my hour of need.
On her family:
"My mother, who is also my manager, teaches me something new every day; she’s an amazing person, a strong woman who raised six children, and I’m very proud of her”, she says smiling, almost embarrassed. “I’ve always been very shy, ever since I was a girl: I copied and did everything my sister Kourtney asked me to do, even when at school she would put me in embarrassing situations with boys. She was my idol”.
On her upbringing:
“I was raised in a strict family. My father did not let me spend weekends at my girlfriends’, and Sunday mornings I had to go to Mass. Though we were well off, the rules were clear: my parents would stop maintaining us as soon as we reached 18. It’s always been important for them that we were all economically independent. We always had a strict routine; we always had dinner together, and my father would take us to school every morning, while mum Kris prepared lunch."
On her work ethic:“I have never tried to make money by exploiting my problems. Often people think that when you have success you do nothing all day. On the contrary, I’m a workaholic: I’d love never to have to sleep so as not to waste a second of the day. I’m obsessed by order, my home is 100% organized, I always need to have everything under control, to the smallest detail."
On any regret she may have:
“Lack of privacy. Everyone is always watching me, I’m under constant observation, everywhere I go there’s a camera following me, in the gym, when I do the shopping, and if I decide to go out without make-up it makes news throughout the world. This is why I don’t want to reveal anything about my relationship with Kanye. In the past I suffered a lot because of my honesty, and when it didn’t work I was criticized and treated badly: I can only say that now, with him, I’m happy."
