'The Soup' Over: Joel McHale farewell: VIDEOS Best Of

Joel McHale will be stepping down after more than a decade with 'The Soup', as revealed in an exclusive report by 'The Hollywood Reporter'.

A Facebook post by 'The Soup' said:

We've had a weird ride and watched over 11,000,000 hours of bad reality television (6,000,000 of which were E! originals) but all good things must end. Thanks to all of you for 11 great years.

"We are incredibly proud of the long-running success of The Soup. [The show] has delivered countless laughs and unforgettable episodes, and we are grateful to the talented team’s fearless wit and clever approach week after week," said E!'s exec vp programming and development Jeff Olde said in a statement Wednesday.

He added of its host: "Joel took the show to new heights for more than a decade, and his irreverent humor and unique brand of comedy as captured so perfectly on The Soup will be missed.”

And Joel himself said in a statement:

"I loved doing The Soup for all of these years (86 to be exact) but am excited to solely focus on my acting career now. Thanks to all who watched and thanks to Kim Kardashian's ass for all that it's done for me and my family."

Ah, Joel! TOO good.

'The Soup': 500 Episodes - Australian and Global Live Screening

If you're a fan of 'The Soup' you'll be excited to learn that the show will be celebrating 500 episodes next week.

The special episode of E!’s longest running comedy series will screen live on Australian TV on Thursday, August 22^nd at 12pm AEST, with encore at 8.30pm that evening.

It will be the first time ever 'The Soup' will be broadcast live across the globe.

E! is also celebrating Joel McHale’s almost decade-long tenure as the completely charismatic and always hilarious host - it's a Sunday night highlight for weekly recaps of the craziest pop culture moments.

I won't lie... I am a huge fan of Joel McHale, and was kind of a groupie-slash-journo when, as associate editor of Sydney mag City weekly, I interviewed him a few years ago, and unashamedly waited for him after his Sydney (Enmore) show, so I could meet him. Here's my interview with him in City Weekly mag. I can honestly say I have never met a more polite, gracious celeb. Utterly at odds with his on-screen shenanigans, though completely genuine.

Says Joel: "I'm very excited to perform 'The Soup' live. No television show has ever been broadcast this way before. We're very excited to be at the forefront of this incredible technology."
