Ines Rau, Playboy's first transgender Playmate: PHOTOS + VIDEO

Since Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner died in September, so many people - from columnists to the average punter - have written about what Hefner has contributed to the world. Some comments have been kind, some not so much.

One thing is certain - Hef was always been the envelope pusher.

In its 64 years of production, Playboy has done just that.

And now... Meet Ines Rau.

The 26-year-old French model of North African descent has been named Playboy's first-ever openly transgender Playmate.

Here is how Playboy posted about the news and Ines:

Hugh Hefner: Brother Keith Dies, Age 87

In sad news, Hugh Hefner's brother Keith has died. Hugh is the founder of Playboy.

He was age 87.

He had been battling cancer.

It comes just one day before Hugh celebrates his 90th birthday.

The two were incredibly close, as fans of the hit TV show 'Girls Of The Playboy Mansion' can attest. The show was called 'Girls Next Door.'

Here is the photo Hugh JUST posted on his Facebook page, with the touching caption below:

This morning, my dear brother and best friend passed away. I love you, Keith. Rest in peace.

He was married to model Caya Hefner, and is widely credited with inventing the 'Bunny Dip', the sexy move servers used to deliver drinks at Playboy Clubs. So vintage:

Here is some old Playboy mansion footage:

Playboy Mansion: For Sale for $200 Million+: Report

Ohhh, if those walls could talk.

Hugh Hefner's iconic home, the Playboy Mansionmay soon be for sale, with an asking price of at least $200 million, according to TMZ

The nearly 22,000-square-foot, 29-room home, which sits on more than five acres in Los Angeles' Holmby Hills neighborhood, will be listed within the next month, sources told TMZ.

Also according to TMZ, a stipulation of any sale would require Hefner, 89, a life estate so that he can continue to live in the home, according to TMZ.

The Playboy Mansion was built in 1927 and first purchased by the Playboy magazine founder in 1971 for about $1 million. Since his purchase, the mansion and the famed grotto pool, have been the subject of many a, er, happy gathering.

The mansion has also appeared in numerous TV shows and movies over the years, such as Sex and the CityThe Apprentice and The House Bunny

The mansion and its goings on was also the subject of Hefner's ex 'main girlfriend' Holly Madison, in her book, released last year. Read more on that here.

Here are some happy snaps from the years of the Playboy mansion:

Playboy to Drop Nudity: PHOTOS

You may have just heard that Playboy magazine will be dropping nudes from it's pictorials.

Yes, really.

And so, you'll not be seeing as much skin as this (apparently):

And this (yes, that's Kim Kardashian):

Yep. Charlize Theron.

Says the excellent article to explain it all in the New York Times:

Playboy’s circulation has dropped from 5.6 million in 1975 to about 800,000 now, according to the Alliance for Audited Media. Many of the magazines that followed it have disappeared. Though detailed figures are not kept for adult magazines, many of those that remain exist in severely diminished form, available mostly in specialist stores. Penthouse, perhaps the most famous Playboy competitor, responded to the threat from digital pornography by turning even more explicit. It never recovered.

You see, last month, Cory Jones, a top editor at Playboy, went to see its founder Hugh Hefner at the Playboy Mansion.

The New York Times piece says:

In a wood-paneled dining room, with Picasso and de Kooning prints on the walls, Mr. Jones nervously presented a radical suggestion: the magazine, a leader of the revolution that helped take sex in America from furtive to ubiquitous, should stop publishing images of naked women.

Mr. Hefner, now 89, but still listed as editor in chief, agreed. As part of a redesign that will be unveiled next March, the print edition of Playboy will still feature women in provocative poses. But they will no longer be fully nude.

Its executives admit that Playboy has been overtaken by the changes it pioneered. “That battle has been fought and won,” said Scott Flanders, the company’s chief executive. “You’re now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free. And so it’s just passé at this juncture.”

And so, from March, not as much nudity.

(And if you want more nudes, just Google Image search: playboy nude photos - don't tell anyone I told you that, yeah...?

Cooper Hefner/Kendra Wilkinson: Holly Madison Backlash

Holly Madison's new book and claims about her ex, Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner, now involves Hugh's 23-year-old son Cooper.

After her claims in her new tell-all book 'Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny', Cooper took to Twitter to go hard on her.
"How does a person who is famous for being a gold digger paint themselves as a victim of a relationship they aggressively sought out for?" Cooper tweeted on Tuesday.

Here is the tweet:

And this:

Kendra Wilkinson, Holly's 'Girls Next Door' (which screened here as 'Girls Of The Playboy Mansion' co-star also has some choice words to say about Holly, and says Holly's claims are inspired by "revenge."
"Holly, you can tell, had this ulterior motive every minute being at the Mansion, and that motive was - it was clear as day - she wanted Hef's kids, she wanted a piece of Playboy and she wanted to marry Hef for, obviously, his will," Kendra, 30, told 'People'. "We aren't sisters, we never were. We just dated the same guy at the same damn time."
For her part, Holly told ET, explaining her motives for the tell-all:
"It wasn't about having an ax to grind or wanting to get a reaction from him [Hefner], or, you know, inviting him back into my life in any way," Holly said. "I don't really care about his response. I wanted to share my story to inspire other women who might be in a bad relationship to get out, or not be branded by bad decisions they've made, and take charge of their lives and move on. ... I'm definitely not rewriting history. I'm finally telling the truth of my experience. For so many years I tried so hard to be a good girlfriend, and I cared about him and always had his back."
Hugh however tells ET that Holly has "decided to rewrite history in an attempt to stay in the spotlight."

Holly Madison on Hugh Hefner's Bedroom Antics Inside Playboy Mansion: "It Was a Miserable Part of My Life": VIDEO

See the video here.

See the whole story here and the accompanying pics from Us Weekly, who detailed her comments in a story (here is the cover from that shoot):

Holly is releasing her book 'Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny', and the press ahead of the book's launch (it has just released today in the US, and in Australia on July 1) has been nothing short of explosive, and garnered about a gazillon column inches the world over. A PR's dream, really.

Described as: "The shocking, never-before-told story of the bizarre world inside the legendary Playboy Mansion — and, finally, the secret truth about the man who holds the key — from one of the few people who truly knows: former Playboy Mansion resident…" 'Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny', is set to be a shockingly candid memoir on Holly's account of life at the Mansion.

Holly Madison Responds To Hugh Hefner: 'Down the Rabbit Hole' Book

Holly Madison has just responded to Hugh Hefner's statement about Holly's new book 'Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny'.

She says:

"It wasn't about having an ax to grind or wanting to get a reaction from him, or, you know, inviting him back into my life in any way. I don't really care about his response. I wanted to share my story to inspire other women who might be in a bad relationship to get out, or not be branded by bad decisions they've made, and take charge of their lives and move on. … I'm definitely not rewriting history. I'm finally telling the truth of my experience. For so many years I tried so hard to be a good girlfriend, and I cared about him and always had his back.
I think there's a whole generation of young women who wouldn't know what Playboy was if it wasn't for Girls Next Door. I'm definitely grateful for the good things, but I don't think I owe anyone anything. If you read the book and you see how we were treated over the years — I definitely gave him my best for seven years. And I think I was the best girlfriend anybody could have been. But there just reaches a breaking point."
Here is what Hugh said about Holly's version of events:
"Over the course of my life I’ve had more than my fair share of romantic relationships with wonderful women," the Playboy founder explains to Us. "Many moved on to live happy, healthy and productive lives, and I’m pleased to say remain dear friends today. Sadly, there are a few who have chosen to rewrite history in an attempt to stay in the spotlight. I guess, as the old saying goes: You can’t win 'em all!"
Read more here.
And here is what Holly said about Hugh and her time in Playboy:
She claims that she was offered quaaludes the first time she met Hef and referred to them as 'thigh openers', and how life inside the Playboy Mansion included A-list celebrity parties, and her own #1-rated television show for four years.
Holly also recounts in her book that it quickly devolved into "an oppressive routine of strict rules, manipulation, and battles with ambitious, backstabbing bunnies."

Life inside the notorious Mansion wasn’t a dream at all, apparently - and quickly became her 'nightmare'. After losing her identity, her sense of self-worth, and her hope for the future, Holly found herself sitting alone in a bathtub contemplating suicide. WOW.

Says Holly:

"I’m excited to finally share my story and what I’ve learned from my personal experiences both inside and outside of the Playboy Mansion. I think my stories will surprise people and I’m looking forward to lifting the veil of mystique and clearing up the misconceptions so often associated with my life."
Read more about this here.
Well, the book is proving to be PR book heaven, really. And it is not even released yet. Here is the book cover, below. It releases 1 July 2015 through Harper Collins.

Hugh Hefner Responds: Holly Madison Book

In news just in, Us Weekly has revealed that Hugh Hefner, Playboy founder and ex-partner of Holly Madison, who has written a book about her time at the infamous Playboy mansion, has finally spoken about what Holly has written about him.

After Holly came forward with controversial claims against Hugh in her tell-all memoir 'Down The Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny, Hugh tells Us Weekly in an exclusive statement on Sunday, June 21:

"Over the course of my life I’ve had more than my fair share of romantic relationships with wonderful women," the Playboy founder explains to Us. "Many moved on to live happy, healthy and productive lives, and I’m pleased to say remain dear friends today. Sadly, there are a few who have chosen to rewrite history in an attempt to stay in the spotlight. I guess, as the old saying goes: You can’t win 'em all!"

As detailed in a previous issue of Us Weekly, Madison claims in exclusive excerpts obtained by Us that while living in the Playboy Mansion with Hefner she was verbally and emotionally abused.

Holly, who is now happily married to Pasquale Rotella and is mother to 2-year-old daughter Rainbow, also claimed that Hugh was a “manipulator” and would “pit” the girls against each other.

“I realized I wasn’t treated well,” Holly said. “I’m done being afraid of people. I don’t have any loyalty to Hef. I haven’t talked to him in four years, so there’s no reason to reach out now. Besides, it’s the truth.”

Holly Madison: 'Down The Rabbit Hole' - VIDEO

There has been much buzz about ex Playboy mansion resident - and previous 'number one girlfriend' of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner - Holly Madison and her book, 'Down The Rabbit Hole'.

And my first thought was: hasn't she already released a book? (She has. But it was much fluffier. It was called: 'The Showgirl Next Door').

And, have I not read these salacious revelations elsewhere? Well, I had. A read a revealing piece on life in the Playboy mansion and how the girlfriends were all on rotation, ready to look after their main man Hef. Not really a shock considering that was the premise of the whole show 'Girls Of The Playboy Mansion' (called 'The Girls Next Door' in the US). I will freely admit I watched this every single season, every single episode. Then I watched it all over again. Thank you, Foxtel repeats.

But this, Holly's new book, is vastly different. It will lift the lid on all that went down at the Playboy Mansion. And with no gag order on Holly, and no comment yet from Hef, you KNOW it's going to be juicy. And you know that Holly, who viewers saw her call her boyfriend Hef 'Puffin', and be very vocal about her desire to marry him, was ALWAYS going to be the one who was going to spill.

The cover is below, but first, a video report on the upcoming book:

Described as: "The shocking, never-before-told story of the bizarre world inside the legendary Playboy Mansion — and, finally, the secret truth about the man who holds the key — from one of the few people who truly knows: former Playboy Mansion resident…" 'Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny', is set to be a shockingly candid memoir on Holly's account of life at the Mansion.

Why the 'rabbit hole'? It's a reference to 'Alice In Wonderland', and, according to 'Urban Dictionary' it's "a metaphor for the path which is thought to lead to the true nature of reality. Infinitesimally deep and complex, venturing too far down is probably not that great of an idea."

And: "Taking hallucinogenic drugs can be considered "tripping" down the rabbit hole, but it is also explored through philosophical and existential thinking."

There you go. And with Holly's claim that she was offered quaaludes the first time she met Hef and referred to them as 'thigh openers', you can see how the reference fits.

It was the spontaneous decision at age 21 for Holly, who transformed herself from a small-town Oregon girl into the Holly Madison we know today, to join the Mansion which led her on the path to fame and controversy.

Life inside the Playboy Mansion included A-list celebrity parties, and her own #1-rated television show for four years. And if you watched the show, as I did, you'll know that the parties and dinners and the rest were a big part of the show. As were all the other 'activities' suggestively mentioned in the show.

Holly recounts in her book that it quickly devolved into "an oppressive routine of strict rules, manipulation, and battles with ambitious, backstabbing bunnies."

Life inside the notorious Mansion wasn’t a dream at all, apparently - and quickly became her nightmare. After losing her identity, her sense of self-worth, and her hope for the future, Holly found herself sitting alone in a bathtub contemplating suicide.

Says Holly:

"I’m excited to finally share my story and what I’ve learned from my personal experiences both inside and outside of the Playboy Mansion. I think my stories will surprise people and I’m looking forward to lifting the veil of mystique and clearing up the misconceptions so often associated with my life."

Holly shares the details of her subsequent troubled relationship, landing her own successful television series, and the hard work of healing, including her turn on 'Dancing with the Stars'. A cautionary tale and a celebration of personal empowerment, Down the Rabbit Hole reminds us of the importance of fighting for our dreams - and finding the life we deserve.

Holly Madison spent five seasons on the #1 rated E! hit reality show ‘The Girls Next Door’ before headlining a critically acclaimed stage show on the Las Vegas Strip, ‘Peepshow.’ She also starred in two seasons of her own hit E! series ‘Holly’s World.

Holly now divides her time between Las Vegas and Los Angeles with her husband Pasquale Rotella and daughter Rainbow.

Here they are on her wedding day a few years ago:

Holly Madison and Rainbow and Pasquale Rotella

Meanwhile, more details of Holly book have come out, including her post-show relationships with fellow Hugh Hefner girlfriends Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson, according to site Jezebel:

After Wilkinson said she was no longer friends with Madison and Marquardt in an interview, Madison decided to call out her fakeness via text. Wilkinson replied“WHO ARE YOU???? I DON’T EVEN KNOW YOU! WE WERE NEVER FRIENDS. IT WAS ALL JUST WORK.”

OUCH.

According to the article afterwards, Holly deleted her number and stopped speaking to her. “Kendra and I haven’t spoken since, and I have to say, I don’t miss her.” She also described the Kendra on Top star as having a “sense of entitlement” and a “hustler mentality.”

BRING ON THE BOOK. Josie's Juice will be reviewing the book shortly.

'Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny' by Holly Madison will be published on July 1, 2015, RRP $39.95, by Harper Collins.
