MBAFW 2013: Beauty Report OPI, day one - Aurelio Costarella

Some go to Mercedes Australian Fashion Week for the clothes, sure.

But there are many others who attend for the new beauty trends.

Can't get there - or not in the industry?

Well look at that - I have a beauty trend alert round-up for you:

Day 1

The beauty pics here come from nail lacquer experts OPI, and are from five different designer shows from Mercedes Australian Fashion Week. Kicking it off is Aurelio Costarella.

After Camilla and Marc set the stage, kicking off Fashion Week, OPI joined Aurelio Costarella as he celebrated fashion in conjunction with artist Waldmer Kolbusz. The collaboration offered an artistic interpretation of warm, calm and cool fashion palettes. The cool shades featured electric blue, midnight blue, turquoise and teal gowns; the warm colour tones included peach, silver and coral tones, whilst the calm tones focused on mainly greens, sage and caramels. Highlights of the show: the amazing silver and black sequined head pieces and decorative fencing masks.

The designs were spectacular, an eclectic mix of fashion styles dating back over the decades featuring sequins, pleats, off the shoulder gowns and halter neck dresses. The designer did not disappoint. Who doesn't like some good embellishment?

The models hair was swept back into a beehive French bun with colour streaks through the hair to match the 3 different colour palettes. The eyes featured dramatic eyebrows and cat whiskers in dark charcoals, sage or peach depending on the colour palette, complete with nude lips – a dramatic contrast to the headpieces.

Two nail designs chosen matched the decorative headpieces: black nails using OPI’s Black Onyx with OPI Matte top coat and black diamante. The silver nails consisted of OPI’s DS Radiance with Matte Top Coat, then re-applied DS Radiance tip off with OPI’s Which is Witch on the tips. OPI’s Designer Series Radiance featured on the toes.

Stay tuned for more beauty reports here, from MAFW via OPI.
