Oscar Nominations 2013 - Seth MacFarlane and Emma Stone: clip

Have you ever watched the Oscar nominations live?

I did for the first time last night on the E! channel... well this morning at 12.30am Sydney time... or the ungodly hour of 5.30am US time. And it was lots of fun!

Seth MacFarlance [who is hosting the Academy Awards when it screens in the US on Sunday February 24, so Monday February 25 on Australian TV] announced all the nominations, with actress Emma Stone.

Here is the clip:

And so, the lowdown:

- Three Australians are nominated: Hugh Jackman, Naomi Watts, and Jacki Weaver

- No, wait! FOUR: in the category of Makeup and Hairstyling, Rick Findlater is one of the trio nominated for his work in the movie 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.'

- Interestingly, the Best Actress nomination category has made Academy history: it features the youngest and oldest nominees ever in the acting categories. Quvenzhané Wallis from the movie 'Beasts of the Southern Wild' was only six when filming started. She will be nine when the Oscars are held. Meanwhile Emmanuelle Riva, the actress from the movie 'Amour' will be turning 86 - on Oscar night!]
- Bradley Cooper has been nominated. Here is his reaction, on US TV's 'Today' show, to his nomination: "I do have to say real quick, Ben Affleck got robbed."
- Seth MacFarlane himself was nominated - as part of the duo responsible for the score for the comedy movie 'Ted'. He wrote the lyrics for the movie's song 'Everybody Needs a Best Friend'.
Who are you most excited about getting a nom? Who do you think missed out?
