Jools Oliver: "I check Jamie's emails and phone to make sure he's not cheating"

There's something utterly honest, human and frank about this story. It's about Jools Oliver, wife of TV chef Jamie Oliver, and mum to their four kids. In a story with The Daily Mail UK, she has admitted that she checks his phone and email accounts to make sure he is not being unfaithful.

I read about this earlier today, and decided yes, I should probably do a blog post on it seeing as I was discussing this EXACT topic with a close friend a few months ago.

So you can imagine my shock today when the same friend told me she'd just been interviewed by Dave Huges from 'The Project' as a random vox pop for their show tonight, on this very topic.

You'll have to tune in for her reply but, suffice to say, girl is a BIG checker. Big.

So, what to do you think?

Do you check your partner's email and phone?

Would you? If you felt something was suss?

If you met your partner while having an affair with him, would you be more inclined to check when you are in a committed relationship together, after he has left his partner for you? [I keep hearing Dr Phil's sage words: "If he did it with you, he'll do it to you."]

Me, never have.

Okay, that's a lie.

I have because I felt like I should... or something?

He has never given me cause to worry, to be suspicious. But what if he is having an affair right under my nose? My husband has gotta be the world's most 'unlikely cheater', but then, some of my friends' husbands have been the same and... well, they are no longer together

But I was so bored but the 'nothingness' of what I found when I checked, I have never checked again.

What about you? Spill...

  1. I have a real problem with this. To have been on the receiving end of a spouse checking a phone becasue they don't trust you, destructive to any relationship. My ex, often "checked" my phone to see what I was saying about him to others & to check if I was cheating on him ... the fact that I was working 50+ hours a week just to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table, oh yeah I had time for an affair - like I'd have the energy at the end of the day ... after working & looking after little people.
If you have so little trust in your partner - leave ! It's an invasion of privacy, like going through a wallet.

  2. Totally understand that viewpoint, Leah. To be on the receiving end of unjustified distrust can destroy a relationship - it clearly has yours... x
