Simone Callahan: "She is not their mum. And the kids know exactly what the situation is.”

UPDATED: Elizabeth Hurley replies, below:

You'd be hard pressed to not be at least a little intrigued by the whole Simone Callahan (the ex Mrs Warne), Shane Warne, and Liz Hurley story.

Sure, it has been tabloid fodder, and loads of magazine stories have speculated about what they each think of the blended family situation, with Liz and Shane having their turn to explain the new family arrangement in a magazine interview recently

Now, Simone - in a world exclusive - has spoken to Woman's Day magazine [Australia’s highest selling weekly women’s magazine] about what she thinks of it all, including Liz's claims that Simone and Shane's children call Liz 'Mummy Two'.

On Shane introducing their children to social media (Twitter)
“Shane and I don’t see eye-to-eye on that,” Simone says in a serious tone. “I don’t like social networking. My kids are banned from Facebook.”

Simone believes her children calling Liz ‘mummy’ is disrespectful:
“I can’t control what people say, but it’s just disrespectful as far as I’m concerned. She [Liz] is not their mum. And the kids know exactly what the situation is.”

Kids used as pawns in Shane and Liz’s glossy magazine spread
“It’s always been important for me to protect the children. They’re still young and impressionable and I have always tried to keep them grounded and ensure life for them is as normal as possible.”

What do you think of both camps using magazines to say what they feel about the children?

This four page interview in Woman's Day - in a spread featuring Simone and her partner Toby - is on-sale now.

Today - 20 May - Elizabeth Hurley replied to the quotes above, on her own Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ElizabethHurley

"For the record, neither my fiance Shane nor I have ever asked his children to call me anything in particular and have never suggested any nicknames for me. Shane's three children started to call me 'M2', in an affectionate and light hearted way, over a year ago. I find it very upsetting that they have been accused publicly of being 'disrespectful' to their mother by doing this. I believe they were making the best of a situation into which they had been thrust, and it pains me that they are being criticised. They are very sweet children and do not deserve this. Melding families is never easy and we are all doing the best we can. Shane's children have been welcoming and inclusive to me and my son and we have a great time when we are together. I try very hard to look after them, and care for them, in the same way that I do my own son when they are with us and I wouldn't know any other way to be. I am writing this to remind spiteful and troublemaking publications that they are hurting four children by publishing such ridiculous remarks about them."
