Chanel's “Les khakis de Chanel”. Stampede.

If you're not at all into makeup - and even if you are - you'll think that putting your name on a waiting list for a beauty product is a little absurd.

Not when you consider that Chanel's lauded nail colour 'Vamp' sold out when it was launched in 1994; in its first year of sale alone, that little bottle of dark red / black nail varnish generated $1 million in sales. Chanel went onto create a browner version called “Very Vamp,” as well as “Metallic Vamp.” Meanwhile, other brands spawned their own dark little creations: Revlon with “Vixen” and Essie with “Dark Chocolate Truffle”. Following on from Chanel's success with "Vamp", they created a matching Chanel lipstick and liner. The colour was famously worn by Uma Thurman in cult flick Pulp Fiction.

And now, for global shopping event Vogue's Fashion Night Out on Thursday September 9 - Sydney's version will feature 55 Aussie designers, over 450 retailers, celebrities, giftbags, food, drink, and entertainment - Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, is celebrating the occasion with the new nail polish collection “Les khakis de Chanel”.

A new trio of nail polish shades - which can be worn alone or combined - are 'Khaki Vert', 'Khaki Rose', and 'Khaki Brun.' It's utter urban chic, and pays homage to the military fashion trends hitting our stories right now. Along with new release eye shadows in the same colour pallette, it a beauty “camouflage effect ”.

The Les Khakis de Chanel collection is limited edition - and sure to sell out this-quick. They will retail for $39 each on this Thursday September 9 only and will again go on-sale in October for those who miss out. Hit up your Chanel Makeup Studio in Myer Sydney City.
