Connie Johnson is hugely inspiring. Battling breast cancer, her brother, actor Samuel Johnson made it his mission to cycle around Australia (on a unicycle!) to raise money and awareness for the cause.
And how!
Founding the Love Your Sister foundation, Samuel rode around Australia on a unicycle to raise $1.6M for breast cancer research. His new goal is $10M!
And now, Connie has just spoken at a TEDx event, and it's as inspiring as you think.
Watch:
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. What would you do if you received news of a terminal diagnosis? Travel? Bungee jump? Tell your brother to ride a unicycle around Australia and build one of the largest community awareness and research advocacy movements in recent history?
Connie is a writer, a mother, a wife a daughter and a sister. She has also been diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. Together with her brother, they hatched a plan to raise awareness for early detection and, while they were at it, $1 million dollars for cancer research. Love Your Sister was born. Her brother set off on a unicycle around Australia, to do just that, and 16,000 kilometres, 1.8 million dollars later they have brought the issue of cancer detection, treatment and how we live in the face of a terminal diagnosis to the fore.
